{"id":167,"date":"2014-01-13T18:39:57","date_gmt":"2014-01-13T18:39:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jugu.org\/gblog\/?p=167"},"modified":"2014-01-13T18:39:57","modified_gmt":"2014-01-13T18:39:57","slug":"reflections-on-subrahmanian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jugu.org\/gblog\/2014\/01\/13\/reflections-on-subrahmanian\/","title":{"rendered":"Reflections on Subrahmanian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This paper is a gender equality review loosely disguised as a development paper.\u00a0 Most of what is said applies equally to the developed as the less developed world &#8211; which is accepted via examples from France and UK.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the issues identified are societal in nature, rather than a choice to limit female opportunity.\u00a0 There is a strong theme of positive discrimination &#8211; men are encouraged to make efforts to equalise the unequal burden of reproductive activities.\u00a0 No mention here of unequal burden on men in matters requiring physical strength.<\/p>\n<p>A useful comment at the end on &#8216;blokish&#8217; stereotypes and their tendency to cause boys to underperform.<\/p>\n<p>Useful categorisation and defiinitions\u00a0 of gender parity, gender equality and gender equity but a bit too dogma ridden to seem very useful in making practical progress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This paper is a gender equality review loosely disguised as a development paper.\u00a0 Most of what is said applies equally to the developed as the less developed world &#8211; which is accepted via examples from France and UK.
