{"id":99,"date":"2013-05-24T13:50:10","date_gmt":"2013-05-24T12:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jugu.org\/gblog\/?p=99"},"modified":"2013-05-30T10:42:32","modified_gmt":"2013-05-30T09:42:32","slug":"reflections-on-weeks-14-16-and-forward-view","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jugu.org\/gblog\/2013\/05\/24\/reflections-on-weeks-14-16-and-forward-view\/","title":{"rendered":"Reflections on Week 15 and forward view"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I enjoyed Week 15 overall. \u00a0Generating Personas has seemed a good way of capturing experience of how users or stakeholders view new developments, enabling those tests to be applied in the design of the product. \u00a0The Personas led on to Forces, conflicts and the Force Map. \u00a0The map became a little mechanistic to build but usefully showed the interaction between Personas and\u00a0game design attributes.<\/p>\n<p>The team has worked really well. \u00a0We could easily have agonised about roles, work division and outside distractions but instead, we have just got on with it! \u00a0Everyone has contributed showing a lot of self-motivation, leaving the team leader to steer and tidy, which Christine is doing effectively. \u00a0Good mature, self-directed stuff &#8211; what adult learners should be showing<\/p>\n<p>We are now into more familiar H8XX territory &#8211; reviewing case studies and theories to see what is relevant to our design. \u00a0There is a lot out there, though one has to say that most of the more interesting approaches are research studies rather than real public games. \u00a0Mor et al. (2006) identified the combining of mathematical skills and instructional skills as the key issue but I would add game design experience to that. \u00a0It is one thing to conceptualise a game, quite another to know the tricks for putting it into practice.<\/p>\n<p>I think that this is going to be the pinch point in weeks 17-19. \u00a0We\u00a0will\u00a0be overwhelmed with inputs and ideas and will need to focus those down to a game and game-play concept.
